Many homeowners focus too much on what the pool is going to cost to build, while this is very important, it is just as important to make sure that the pool will be built with quality and energy efficient products. unfortunately this is very difficult for homeowners to know what differences to look for.

  2. Are you a member of APSP? (Association of Pool and Spa Professionals)
  3. How many types of pools do you build?
  4. Can I have a list of at least 10 pools that you have built over the last five years?
  5. Will the pool comply with VGB federal law? (Virginia Grame Baker Act)
  6. How much will it cost to maintain and operate my pool on a monthly basis?
  7. Will the pool meet or exceed the Energy Efficiency mandate APSP-15?
  8. Are you a Licensed Swimming Pool Contractor?
  9. How much continuing education do you take to keep up on the ever changing industry?
  10. What size and type plumbing will be used? and why?
  11.  What pump and filter will be used?  is there a more energy efficient solution?
  12. Can I have a copy of your Workman's Compensation Insurance and your Liablity Insurance?
  13. Are swimming pools your primary business?
If your pool builder cannot answer the above to your satisfcation then it is time to move on and find a qualified pool builder.
