Which swimming pool is best for you? Vinyl Liner or Fiberglass?

These are the two most common pools for your backyard.  They are both very good pools and have pro's and con's.

Let's take a look at Vinyl Liner Pools. This is a great pool if you are on a tight budget, they start around $20,000.00 installed.  This Pool can be built to any shapvinyl liner pools eastern nce and size that you can desire.  They have pre-made steps and benches available in different colors to match the liners. You can also have the the liner custom made to go right over the steps and benches. This is a pool that you can have look very inexpensive to very expensive.  There are also some disadvantages to Vinyl Liner Pools.  First of all you will need to have a new liner installed at least every 10 to 15 years. The nice thing about changing out the liner is that you have a new interior to your pool. Some of the other disadvantages are that the liner can float if you have a very high water table or a huge amount of rain in a very short time. This can also cause sink holes under the liner. the more commonly known problems such as the liner can tear, especially if you have a dog in the pool.

Now let's look at Fiberglass Pools.   These are one of the most requested Pools for the backyard. This is the pool that requires the least amount of long term maintenance. They are available in a various shapes and sizes.  These are great looking pools, that usually have some nice features such as numerous benches and ledges. You can even have an all tile pool if you wish.   These pools qualities and looks are very comparable to Concrete/Gunite Pools.

The drawbacks to Fiberglass Pools are usually due to improper installation.  One of the biggest problems is un-level installation, usually the pools do not have a Waterline tile installed and the concrete is just poured tofiberglass pools nc the top edge of the pool, so it is very hard tell that they are unlevel. It is very important to have tile installed around the perimeter of the pool to help prevent a scum line from forming around the perimeter of the pool.  Most manufactures also offer upgraded colors and finishes over the standard white and pool blue.  These finishes are more durable and should be included when making your decision. The decking around the pool is very important as well, if it is concrete make sure that it is Cantilever Decking. This type of finish is poured right on top of the pool.  This will help anchor the pool and protect the top edge of the pool. The biggest draw back is that they can only be built 16' wide for shipping reasons.

These are both great types of pools that can provide you and your family with years of enjoyment. One of the most important things to remember is that with any pool that you have built. Is to properly take care of your pool, by keeping your pool clean and your water properly balanced. Your pool interior finish will last for years.
