What Should I Look For When Shopping For A Spa?

Shopping for a spa can be a very confusing time for many people.  What should I look for?  How do I know if the spa is right for me and my family? What kind of features do I want in my spa?  These are just a few of the questions people have when they come in looking to purchase a spa.  I thought I would share what I would look for in a spa if I should ever have to get a new one. Relaxing Spa

We use a spa for many different reasons.  I like to relax in the hot water and unwind after a long day at work.  I have also been known to take a good book to read in the spa.  My husband also likes to unwind after a long day, but he uses it more for the every day aches and pains we get as we get older.  I really enjoy sitting in the spa before bed, it really makes falling asleep so much easier.  I get the best, most restful sleep after I have been in the spa. Chris likes to use it on Sat. and Sunday mornings as well to get all his muscles moving.

I have been asked, "What kind of spa would you get if you had to do it all over, knowing what you now know now?"  I would make sure that the seats are comfortable. Loungers and upright recliners are the best. Color lights are a must! I love the soft color tones. Then there are the waterfalls. Waterfalls are nice, listening to running water is very relaxing. Most importantly though are the jets.  I must have enough jets to massage my whole body, feet included.  I would also want the spa with the least amount maintenace. That is it in a nutshell.

Size does matter.  If you have the room bigger is always better.  You should have enough seats to move around relax and play.  I would find the size that best fit my family.  There are four of us but usually only two of us use it. So, I would probably want a 7' - 8' spa. I would then ask to wet test the spa to make sure the spa is the perfect fit for myself and my family.  Do the jets hit you in all the right places?  Is the water moving through the jets like you expected?  Are the seats comfortable?  Can you feel yourself relaxing?  Are the stresses of the day disappearing?  Can you see this spa in your backyard?  Do you really need to get out or will they let you spend the evening?  Now I know that not everybody is comfortable going into a store and stripping down to their bathing suit.  I can assure you that it does not make a difference to the people working in the store.  We often get people into the spa, explain the features and how to use everything and then we excuse ourselves so they can experience the spa by themselves.  I often ask people if they would purchase a car without test driving it?  I have bought a car because of the ride and how it made me feel.  The same principle holds true with a spa.  If you are looking at spas and you are not asked if you would like to wet test the spa I would recommend you look elsewhere for your spa.  I know I would.

There is another reason why I would get another spa.  Quality time with my husband.  We cannot take the computers, phones or the TV's into the spa.  It is just us, the water, the soft lighting, the relaxing pulsating of the jets, and the quality time together that we often forget about in our hectic daily lives.
