WHICH UNDERWATER POOL LIGHT IS BEST?

There are several different lighting options for your in-ground swimming pool.  We will start the most basic and commonly known.  The incandescent light has been the standard light for numerous years, this light is usually of a 500 watt capacity.  These lights are available in low and high voltage.  The advantages of these lights are that they are very bright and inexpensive to purchase.  The disadvantages are that they use a considerable amount of energy, they also need the bulbs changed quite often.

Another well know light is the Fiber Optic light.  These lights have been used for many years as the best alternative to the incandescent light.  They offer color changing lights and can be synchronized with numerous water features. Fiber optics offer a very warm glow of color to the pool.  While these lights have been very popular for many years they have quite a few drawbacks, such as the lights are not very bright  and the brighter the lights are the shorter the fiber optic cable has to be.  The biggest problem with these lights are that they need a control tower mounted close to the pool. These towers are usually in the way and do not look very attractive.____________

The newest light on the market are LED lights.  LED’s are the most energy efficient light available for your pool. They are available in several different options.  LED bulbs are available as replacement for incandescent lighting, although these are not as bright as the incandescent bulbs they will last longer and will use considerably less energy.  One of the best features of LED lighting is the option of colored lights and colored light shows. The latest LED lights available are very small, the size of a wall return.  These lights are less expensive than the larger lights and can be easily placed through out the pool to give a better coverage with less shadows.  One of the best things about LED lights are that they are less attractive to bugs, which will make your nighttime swims more enjoyable!

No matter which light you pick, make sure that you pick a light.  An underwater light in your pool is as much for safety as it is for making your pool more enjoyable!
